Sat 5/9/1981 Manchester United A 2-1 2-1 Division 1 45645 John Wark (1) Alan Brazil (1) I was one of those at Old Trafford and I don`t recall it being called The Theatre of Dreams way back in 1981. I was 23 and interrailed a lot then. It was my first time at Old Trafford and I bought my ticket to a stand where there were the home supporters because I wanted to catch a train early after the game and not to be left waiting for half an hour or more in the away supporter`s end. So I had to keep my emotions down though I knew ManU-supporters weren`t that hostile. So when were all over the not so mighty United and could have won it by 3-4 goals there were moments when I almost rejoiced. It was one of those days when Alan Brazil was here, there and everywhere. He ran with ball and created scoring opportunities for others as well. There were 3 not so easy on the eye-type of ManU-fans in front me with no shirts on in the early autum sunshine. I still remember when one them commented to the others "Oh no,not that bloody Brazil again" when he got the ball. I think people don`t remember how talented Alan Brazil really was. There were other greats in our team then and they seem to get more credit than Alan now. But he is my all time favourite Ipswich-player. And works for radio like myself now. I use his name as a pseudonym in couple of forums these days. By the way I can be found on this site.Tallinn July 2001 gallery/baltic4l0001.jpg
