In the mid 1980s Colin owned a pub in Uxbridge - the Nine Styles. We were a local team that would go there for a beer after training. We managed to talk him into training us. Long story short we won everything that year, the cup, the division and got promoted. He taught us the skills of one touch football. I will never forget his selfless kindness and willingness to work with us. Wishing him the very best.

Part of the second best midfield Ipswich ever had, with Ian Collard, after Murhan and Thyssen.

I'm interested in finding out about Colin's early life in Ipswich for something I'm writing. Did he stay in Charlie Cowie's hostel in Crofton Road or in other lodgings? Be very grateful if anyone has information on this or could pass my enquiry on to his daughter, Jesse, who has posted on this page. Thanks.

Hi all,Colin now resides in Alberton South Africa. He currently has a group of boys (age 8 to 13) that he coaches at Alberton and Edenvale football clubs. My son is part of this group and this year August will be the fourth time that we will tour the UK. We will once again be based in Ipswich and thanks to Colin's great relationship with the staff and academy coaches we are able to train at these fantastic facilities, and also play a few matches against the Ipswich academy boys. Both Malcolm Moore and Liam Manning from the Ipswich academy have been to SA to watch and check on the development of any young talent. It is an absolute thrill for the kids and parents to have these guys come over and watch our boys. Colin still entertains the boys with great skill and ball control and they have learnt so much from this great ex player.

Dear Sir, In the 60s I went working in South Africa Johannesburg and played football for Johannesburg Rangers where I met Colin he was 15 years of age and very skillfull. We were in the first divison and highly rated. Our colours were back and white stripes like Newcastles United and our home ground was called Wembley.Whites on one side coloured on the other ground capacity about 30,000. He was one wing halve and I was the other. Sometimes he would play for a coloured team on a Sunday but I do remember him leaving to play for Ipswich - happy days in the land of sun shine. I would love to contact him to talk of those days. yours faithfully Graham.

Just found this site and it brings back great memories when i was a child and lived just down the road from colin when he lived in Defoe Road in Ipswich and used to sit on my bike outside his house hoping to get a glimpse of him...he was my favourite player and it was great when `Ace` got into the England Team...hope he is doing ok
Virginia Weldon Wednesday 07-02-2007
I met Colin in Ipswich in about 1965/6. He was playing for the reserve team and I remember he was only 17. He hadn`t been in England long and I remember his South African accent. I remember watching him play and thinking how amazing he was. I dated him a couple of times but I doubt if he would remember a young and innocent blue eyed blond who was very naive. He may remember we had an minor accident in the car one of his team mates was driving. We were sitting in the back. My brother, Tim Weldon, who has following Ispwich Town faithfully over the years was very proud of the fact that I dated Colin, however briefly - especially when he excelled in the first team. I wish him well and hope he is happy living back in South Africa. He is an accomplished footballer.

the first game i went to was at norwich as a mere 12 year old back in the 60`s. he scored a hat trick and from then on although my life then was around norwich i supported the town. through thick and thin he was an inspiration and in 1977 when he returned to the team from the wilderness in the 3-0 hammering of cruyf and barcelona what a reception he got . a true star of the blues
