John at the moment, is still a copper but `watch this space`, last night he was at Portman Road (as usual) but i see him signing autographs, certainly for Ipswich Town fans and possibly Plymouth Argyle fans too, as he was recognised, in a night all about Paul Mariner`s return to Portman Road (in a Manager capacity). I watched the match with John and spoke briefly about his part in the move to Home Park (with Terry Austin) which brough PM to Portman Road. John Peddelty a very pleasant gentleman & Portman Road regular.

  • He is still a copper, with Suffolk Police

One of my childhood memories is at the start of MATCH OF THE DAY it showed John scoring a brilliant goal and the commentator would scream PEDDELTY..............

John originates from my village,Evenwood, which is 5 miles from Bishop Auckland. Most of his family still live here including his father Ronnie. One of his brothers,Michael is also very sporting and can put his hand to anything. He loves his cricket and still helps out Evenwood cricket team when they are short.I know John joined the police force after he retired from football and as far as i know is still in the service.
