I was at school with John. Same class. He was great at all sports and academically. We were quite good friends. I was always pleased to tell folks he went on to play for Ipswich under Bobbie Robson. I just googled him out of curiosity and found this page. Would be good to get in touch again.

Represented England at Youth/U-16 level at least once during the 1973-74 season. If you have details of these caps we would like to hear from you.

I knew John well in the 70's and still trade xmas cards. One day he gave me and my wife a coupla tickets for a town game in the evening. Ipswich played Barcelona at Portman Road . He and Roger Osborne made sure a certain Johan Cruyff never got a kick as Town won 3-0

I saw John Stirk play for Chesterfield in the early eighties. He was a good player in a good team at that time. He scored in a cup semi final once ... Lots of people in Chesterfield remember him well.
