From www.cufl.ie:
CAVAN Shamrocks and Republic of Ireland Under 16 midfielder Jonathan Leddy has signed a two year contract with Ipswich Town Football Club.
Butlersbridge lad Jonathan, a transition year student at St Patrick's College, put pe n to paper last Friday.
Leddy has had numerous trips over and back to Ipswich academy over the past 20 months. He has also tri-aled with other clubs including Newcastle, Birmingham and Backburn Rovers, but he decided that Ipswich was the best club for him and he will now link up with his new team-mates in mid-July for pre-season training before the league commences in late August.
Jonathan is also an active member of the Republic of Ireland Under 16 squad and had to make an very early morning exit from Ipswich on Sunday to join with his Irish team-mates in Cork for two international friendlies against Belguim.
Jonathan's mother Fidelma and father Paddy joined him on his big day at Portman Road, Ipswich for the official signing. They were very impressed with the time and effort afforded them by all the club staff and, said proud mum Fidelma, "it was a pleasure to meet the boss himself Paul Jewell who replaced Roy Keane last December".
On Saturday they proudly watched as the Ipswich Under 16's drew 2-2 with Birmin-ham at the academy home grounds.
The weekend was finished off with a great win by the first team at Portman Road, especially when 17-year-old Josh Carson, youth teammate of Jonathan's, from Northern Ireland scored twice in the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.
