I was a youth player with Kev back in the early 90's and played with him for Colchester district schools, Essex and the Colchester and District Youth League representative side. I also played many times against his youth team, Feering Falcons, and was always on the losing side! Kev was always the one player who stood out above anyone else I played with or against. He was a good defender, strong, had a good first touch and was extremely commanding at the back. As a youth player he used to play left back. I was saddened to hear that his career ended prematurely through injury as he would have done well as a professional. It was good to see that he at least played in the premiership against Arsenal though!
