Lee Howey wrote his autobiography in 2018 - great title Massively violent and decidedly average
From the book can confirm that Lee joined Ipswich as an apprentice in July 1985 and then left in 1988 after a serious knee injury
He returned in 1993 for a trial playing in a reserve game v Charlton. He was offered a contract but instead chose to sign for his hometown club, Sunderland - managed then by Terry Butcher.
Below are the list of other clubs he played for including a spell in Belgium when he resurrected his career after his serious injury at Ipswich.

Lee played for Seaham Red Star in 1992 before joining Bishop Auckland. Lee Howey signed as a player for Bedford Town in October 2002, .He was signed by Bedford manager and ex Town player Kevion Wilson. He left Bedford in October 2003 when he and Wilson left for Aylesbury United.He became assistant manger to Wilson at Aylesbury. He then followed Kevin to Kettering Town where he was assistant manger, leaving there in March 2005. In 2005/06 spent a short period as manager of Buckingham Town Played for Sunderland in the 2007 and 2008 Masters. Now a corporate sales manager, living back in the North East
