  • Not just a good footballer but a superb bloke,A wand of a left foot and was excellent in his first season for man city until he had a bust up in training with Sam Ellis (who),Peter Reids assistant. Thanked every supporter who asked for his autograph or a photo, top man

  • Born in Rawtenstall, Lancashire (NOT Rossendale)

  • David Votoupal Sunday 28-10-2007

Mark Brennan also spent time playing in Australia after leaving Oldham, playing for Sydney Olympic in the NSL (1996-98) and St George in the State League (1998-99).

  • Mark`s career highlight came at the start of the 2004/5 season when he signed for Maltby F.C., which is now Tilbury Veterans. Can be brilliant when he can be bothered to get out from under the duvet on Sunday mornings. He did today, and actually scored with his head!

  • A gifted midfielder of massive, sadly unfulfilled potential. On form, Marco Van Brennan was a joy to watch. A free kick specialist, his suberb vision & ability to execute long and short range passes made him on playing terms the left-footed Beckham of his day. Scored some crucial and spectacular goals for the Boro. What true Boro fan can forget the last minute winner at Villa Park in Jan 1990? Was fortunate enough to meet the great man at a signing session in the Cleveland Centre back in 1990 during the build up to the ZDS final. "Alright Mark ?". "Not bad,son how`s tricks ?". "Will you sign my shirt?". "No problem" I got my Mum to sew along the sig so it remained after washing. I don`t care what anyone says, Brennan was a top player whose Boro career was way too brief. Appears regularly for The Twish (that`s how my brother says "Ipswich" when pissed) in the Indoor Masters tournaments. (Brennan is pictured bottom right in the two team pics - Chevblue)

Mark now plays for Canvey Island, he joined in November 2002 from Billericay, and plays in the same team as former Town players John Kennedy and Neil Gregory.
