Met Murdo Finlayson's elder sibling Gus on Saturday past at Morrisins in Cardonald and he says that his young Brother's date of birth is October 4 1957.

It's been that long since I seen the post on him, that I forgot to ask Gus about the proper spelling of their surname and will do so the next time I bump into him.

  • i was a friend of murdo we both went to govan high school and played for the school team.we reached the final of the castle cup in 1970 but were beaten by lourdes 3-2. we also played for eastercraigs. i remember going to a tournament down south and one of the games was to be played on a sunday and murdo could not play due to his family religous beliefs they came from stornoway and he was not allowed to play any sport on the sabbeth, and yes he did sign on a s form with rangers.

I did not know Murdo Finlayson, personally, but worked alongside his elder Brother Gus, in the British Polar Engines in Govan, Glasgow.

From that info and where they came fron Drumoyne (South West Glasgow), it would be in order to say that he went to Govan High School, the same place of education that was attended by Sir Alex Ferguson.

There were a family of Wark's present at Govan High roundabout MF's time at Govan High and they are related to Portman Road legend, Johnny.

I occasionally see Murdo's brother Gus in attendance at games at Ibrox, if I bump into him I will see if I can get any info on his younger sibling.

One thing I do know was that prior to signing on down East Anglia way, that he was attached to Rangers whose base is barely a mile away from where he was brought up.

  • Last name possibly spelt Findlayson
