While at Everton Wright missed an FA Cup tieagainst Chelsea in the 2005-06 season when he ignored a sign warning players not to warm up in the goalmouth, before tripping over it and twisting his ankle.

Town Chairman David Sheepshanks couldn`t have put it better: "We are disappointed Richard chose not to join us but recognise that extra money for sitting on the bench at Upton Park must be more appealing than the opportunity to feature regularly for you home town team."
