  • 2 Jan 2015, Stuart resigns as manager of Hadleigh United

  • A left footed defender who was a YTS player at Lincoln City, joined AFC Sudbury at the start of season 2002/03, played only a few games before leaving to go to Hadleigh United. At the start of season 2003/04 he joined Long Melford and played in the Suffolk Senior Cup Final of that season. In September 2004 he left Long Melford joining Needham Market. At the start of the 20005/06 season signed for Walsham-le-Willows. He stayed with Walsham through the 20-5/06 season but at the start of the 2006/07 campaign he was Whitton United as their captain. In February 2007 he was rumoured to have stopped playing football, however at the start of the 2007/08 season he was back at Whitton. In November 2007 he had a knee operation that had prevented him playing for the rest of the 2007/08 season. On 4th July 2008 he had signed for Hadleigh United again and played throughout the 2008/09 season. He remained with the Millfield club at the start of the 2009/10 season, but received a cruciate knee injury and in November 2009 announced he had retired from football due to it. On May 14th 2010 he was named as the manager of Hadleigh United.

  • Stuart has just been appointed as manager of Hadleigh United, the 29 year old had 2 spells at Hdleigh as a player. He had started his footballing days at Ipswich town.

After six years at Ipswich Town’s Centre of Excellence as a youngster, during which time he played in a couple of youth team matches, Crawford was released and signed YTS forms for Lincoln City, where John Beck was the manager.

Injury problems hampered his development in his second season, and although he was offered a third year Crawford declined and returned to Suffolk and joined Hadleigh.

He subsequently also played for Felixstowe, Stanway Rovers, AFC Sudbury, Long Melford, Needham Market, Walsham-le-Willows and Whitton, appearing in three successive Suffolk Senior Cup finals with three different clubs and twice ending on the winning side.

He returned to Hadleigh and helped them to win promotion from Division One, but then he snapped the cruciate ligament in his left knee – the same injury as he sustained two years previously - and called time on his playing career.
