Joined grimsby town in dec 1980 for a club record fee of £80,000 from vancouver. He became player/coach at grimsby in may 1982, succeeding previous first-team coach dave booth who had recently been appointed manager. trevor was made honorary captain for the day for grimsby town's fa cup visit to portman road on 29 jan 1983. As well as playing in his usual position as striker, he occasionally also played in central midfield and had the odd game deputising in central defence at grimsby. He joined southend united for £12,000 in jan 1984.

From the recent 125th Anniversay book for Diss Town more on Trevor: He stated playing football for Wortham but after a few games moved to Diss. His father Donny Whymark was a Diss Town legend. Whilst at Diss he played for the Norfolk County side. George Jenkins wrote to Ipswich asking for a trial for Trevor. He left Diss in 68/69 Trevor returned to finish his playing career at Diss, joining them in Janauary 1986 from Colchester, he acted as a player coach till leaving Diss for the final time in December 1986

Great to see page dedicated to 'cousin Trev'...very strange to look at him and looks like young version my father and the resemblance still there with the years gone by - may only be a distant relative but it's the only place I could have got my footballing talents from :)

In the club`s youth team records for 67-68 and 68-69 Trevor Whymark is frequently referred to as `S Whymark` although his initials are `TJ`. We have credited all of those appearances to Trevor as we don`t believe there was an `S Whymark` at Portman Road at the same.

Both Myself, and my identical twin brother`s first game was when town beat WBA 7-1, and Whymark scored a hat-trick. We now both run pubs in Norwich, and I recited to him the story of how Trevor Whymark visited my pub, to deliver a fridge, and how I`d told him of the first game I`d seen him in! funny thing was that, trevor had visited my brothers pub only a week before with a tumble-dryer, and had the same conversation!! I wondered why he`d looked at me gone out
