Between 1995 and 1999 Claus Thomsen represented his country on 20 occasions. He made his debut for Denmark, whilst an Ipswich player in a home game against Macedonia in April, 1995. His last appearance for Denmark, whilst a VFL Wolfsburg player, was in a home game with Italy in March, 1999. Impressed for Denmark at Euro 1996 and, despite attracting the attentions of the likes of Juventus, the midfielder ended up at Everton. As a Town player he represented his country in 12 games.
