Match Report

Ipswich 2-1 Nottm Forest

Ipswich took advantage of some early luck and withheld late pressure to secure victory over Nottingham Forest.

The home side took the lead in fortuitous circumstances when Forest midfielder James Perch headed Tommy Miller's free-kick into his own net.

They doubled their lead when Gareth McAuley fed David Wright who fired into the bottom corner of the net.

Forest pulled a goal back when Nathan Tyson bundled home at the second time of asking from a Garath McCleary cross.

Ipswich manager Jim Magilton:

"The best way to answer criticism is to go out and get a result and we did that.

"It's not about me, my job is to get the players focused and albeit a bit scrappy at times it was a hard-fought win tonight.

"I don't think things are going too badly we just have a huge expectation at this football club.

"I appreciate the club's backing. I'm confident I am the man to take this club forward.

"There's no-one who will put more pressure on me than myself."

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies:

"A lot of these players don't know the game and a lot of them need to work harder. We'll try and pick up points with the players we've got available at the moment.

"I feel for the fans because they've got to suffer like were suffering at the moment.

"I can assure the fans there will be massive changes at this football club if we get our way and we'll bring in players who are proud to wear the shirt.

"We just need to finish fourth bottom because if we do that it'll be a fantastic job done."
