Match Report

Ipswich 0 Barnsley 0

HEINZ Muller enhanced his standing as the goalkeeper to scout with another fine display to earn Barnsley a draw at Ipswich.

Fulham, Wigan and Bolton are all rumoured to be in competition to sign the 6ft 6ins German and his performance cannot have failed to impressed the watching scouts at Portman Road.

Twleve minutes in, Barnsley threatened when Grant McCann delivered a dangerous cross which Martin Devaney met with a thunderous volley - this time it was Alex Bruce's turn to produce a vital block.

Barnsley's momentum was building and moments later Stephen Foster's cross was drilled goalwards from 25 yards by Istvan Frenczi.

The ball flashed narrowly wide but that served as a wake-up call for Ipswich and in the 16th minute a vicious 20-yard strike from midfielder Tommy Miller drew a fine block from Lewin Nyatanga.

Two minutes later, Miller was at it again, catching a 20-yard volley perfectly to draw a smart stop from Muller, who was at it again midway through the half.

A 25-yard strike from Pablo Counago curled wickedly but Muller arched his huge frame into position and held the ball comfortably.

Barnsley grew in confidence as the game wore on and midfielder Grant McCann drilled a 25-yard shot narrowly wide 10 minutes after the break.

But they were left grateful to Muller again in the 65th minute as he tipped Gavin Williams' curling 30-yard free-kick over the crossbar.
