Match Report

Hull City 2 Ipswich Town 2

GRANT LEADBITTER put himself in the shop window with a point-saving double — but boss Paul Jewell wants to keep him at Ipswich.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and showed potential suitors what he is capable of with two goals in three minutes.

Hull were cruising through Robbie Brady's 18th-minute opener and Robert Koren's 10th of the season in the 54th minute.

Leadbitter drilled in a penalty on 67 minutes after Aaron Mclean's foul on Tommy Smith.

The midfielder then rifled an unstoppable 70th-minute leveller from 20 yards.

Jewell said: "At 2-0 down, to step up and take the penalty showed confidence and bottle.

"He should get more goals. He's had stick off the fans and me for that but he's a good pro and his own worst critic.

"We'd like to keep him but that's out of our hands to a certain extent. He's free to see what the market is — but we would like him to stay."

Hull boss Nick Barmby was angry with Mclean after his clumsy attempt at a clearance gave Ipswich the penalty that got them back in the game.

The striker tried an overhead kick in his own box but instead caught Town defender Smith with a high challenge.

Barmby said: "At this stage of the season, you need cool heads.

"The penalty changed the game and they were in the ascendency."
