Algeria 1 Ipswich Town 1
Town succeeded where Real Madrid and Borussia Moenchengladbach had failed in Algeria last week.
They drew 1-1 with the Algerian national side who had previously beaten the Spanish and German giants in friendly games.
Algeria also caused a sensation in last summer's World Cup Finals in Spain when they defeated West Germany 2-1 and were only denied a place in the second phase on goal difference.
A crowd of 30,000 saw Algeria take a first half lead but John Wark popped up ten minutes from the end to earn Town a draw with a timely flick from Alan Brazil's cross.
Town boss Bobby Ferguson said: "It was a well organised trip and the beauty of it was that we weren't away from home for very long. The game was good too, and the playing surface first class.
"The Algerians were impressive going forward with a number of quick, nippy players. But they weren't as strong at the back and we were a little bit annoyed that we didn't score two or three against them."
The Town lineup was: Sivell, Putney (Parkin), Gernon (Kinsella), Thijssen, Osman, Butcher, Wark, McCall, Mariner, Brazil and O'Callaghan.
