Match Report

Ipswich Town 2 Preston North End 3

An amazing fightback saw Preston North End to victory after going in at half-time 2-0 down.

A rash challenge by Matt Hill led to North End old boy Jon Macken converting a penalty and slack marking allowed Alan Lee to double the lead.

But David Nugent latched onto a weak header back to the keeper to pull one back early in the second half and a Liam Chilvers header and a long-range Simon Whaley effort completed the comeback.

Manager Paul Simpson said: "We had a shocking first half but made a great comeback.

"Our second half display was more like we have come to expect from our players.

"At the interval I said that if we could get a goal back quickly we could still win the match.

"When we scored it gave us a massive lift and you could see Ipswich were starting to wilt."
