Match Report

Indifferent Ipswich bid farewell to Magilton

Jim Magilton made his final appearance for Ipswich as goals from Nicky Forster and Darren Currie brought the curtain down on an indifferent season at Portman Road.

"I shall miss Jim immensely because he has been a terrific captain. His big personality will leave a massive hole but we can get over that by having success next season," Ipswich manager Joe Royle said. "I want to make two or three signings in the summer but even now I think we will be going into next campaign stronger than we went into this one."

Magilton bids emotional farewell

Ipswich captain Jim Magilton was emotional after Town's 2-0 win over Derby - his last game at Portman Road, as he is to depart this summer.

"I can't thank the fans and the lads enough for the reception they gave me," he told the club website.

"I was choked to be honest, walking around the pitch at the end and knowing I won't be back here next season.

"But I've had seven magnificent years at the club, and I'm lucky enough to have played with some great players."
