Match Report

Huddersfield 0 Ipswich Town 0

MICK McCARTHY made no apologies for grinding out a goalless draw in this relegation battle.

Ipswich boss McCarthy’s gameplan could have been blown to pieces after 71 minutes when Huddersfield striker Theo Robinson kicked fresh air after he was put clear by James Vaughan.

McCarthy said: “I’m a pragmatist, not a poet. Let’s face it, this was pretty p*** poor!

“I’m a happy man — and I’ve never had a bad point away from home yet. What we saw was two bang ordinary teams playing on a lousy pitch, both nervous and both looking the wrong end of the Championship table. So there was no free-flowing entertainment. Well, what a surprise.”

New Huddersfield boss Mark Robins rapped: “We controlled this match, we tried to pass the ball around but Ipswich didn’t.”

“We wanted all three points, they were clearly happy with just the one.”
