BARMBY PILES ON MISERY FOR ROYLE

NICK BARMBY showed old boss Joe Royle no mercy to drag Ipswich closer to the drop zone.

Royle splashed out £5.25m to take Barmby to Everton nine years ago, but the former England striker ensured there was no old pals' act.

Hull's top scorer struck a cool second-half opener to leave Royle's out-of-form side in danger of being caught up in a relegation scrap.

In the 56th minute Billy Paynter knocked down a Jason Price cross to City's skipper, who did the rest from 10 yards with a calm right-foot finish .

Craig Fagan doubled the damage on 70 minutes.
