Match Report

Tractor Boys extend their unbeaten run

Ipswich had keeper Neil Alexander to thank for extending their unbeaten home run in the league to 15 games.

Boss Jim Magilton saw his side dominated the game but could have seen all the points snatched away had Alexander not saved Steve MacLean's second-half penalty.

The hosts were on top for long periods but a combination of poor finishing, bad luck and dogged Plymouth defending ensured they failed to score. Midfielder Owen Garvan and rightwinger Danny Haynes tested the visitors' keeper Luke McCormick.

And Alan Quinn, making his debut in Town's midfield following a £400,000 move from Sheffield United, also went close.

Ipswich continued to squander openings with Garvan and Pablo Counago blazing wide and Counago then completely missed his kick when unmarked in front of goal.
