SAM VOKES HITS RIGHT TONE
SAM VOKES paid an impressive tribute to Gary Speed by scoring his first Burnley goal as Ipswich were sent to a sixth straight defeat.
Vokes scored twice in Speeds last match in charge of Wales, a 4-1 win over Norway two weeks ago.
And the Wolves striker, on loan at Turf Moor, paid a moving tribute to Speed in the match programme describing him as a great role model and ambassador for the game.
Vokes marked his first home start for Burnley by heading in Keith Treacys 33rd-minute corner to pile the pressure on Ipswich boss Paul Jewell. Only a string of fine saves by Arran Lee-Barrett kept Ipswich in the game.
Jay Rodriguez was twice left frustrated by the Ipswich keeper before Chris McCann, above, doubled the lead by turning in Junior Stanislas cross just before half-time.
McCann made it 3-0 midway through the second half before Rodriguezs 11th goal of the season ensured Burnley boss Eddie Howe enjoyed a happy 34th birthday.
But problems continue to mount for Jewell whose side are just above the drop zone after conceding 18 goals in six matches.
