Match Report

Ipswich back on course

Ipswich manager Joe Royle expressed hopes that his side would grow in confidence after registering their first Coca-Cola Championship victory since Oct 1.

"We were not at our best but results mean everything and one hopes a win will improve our confidence," he said.

Plymouth conceded two goals to left-wing corners, taken by Darren Currie in the 23rd and 31st minutes.

The first was headed out to Jay McEveley, who fired low through a crowded penalty area from 25 yards, and Jason De Vos' flick on allowed Jimmy Juan to nod home at the far post.

After six minutes of the second half, Akos Buzsaky reduced the deficit with a brilliant curling free-kick after Kevin Horlock had tripped David Norris.

But three minutes later Romain Larrieu brought down Nicky Forster for a disputed penalty and Matt Richards, taking a spot-kick for the first time at this level, made no mistake.
