Jordan Rhodes fires a timely reminder to Roy Keane
Republic of Ireland assistant boss Keane was in charge at Ipswich when he sold the striker to Huddersfield for just £750,000 in 2009.
Rhodes has gone from strength to strength since then - with his value rocketing to £8million by the time Blackburn signed him three years later.
And the Scotland forward struck a sweet second-half opener for Blackburn to derail his former club's play-off hopes, before Rudy Gestede wrapped up victory.
"It was an outstanding goal by Jordan," said Rovers boss Gary Bowyer. "It is difficult to find more words to describe him, other than phenomenal and outstanding.
"I felt he and Rudy led from the front."
Keane, who dashed to Ewood Park to keep an eye on Ipswich forward Daryl Murphy after taking in the early Championship kick-off at Wigan, has never really been forgiven by the Ipswich faithful for selling Rhodes.
And the Tractor Boys have certainly suffered at the hands of the striker since - he has scored every time he has faced them.
Murphy almost came up with a first-half goal, powering a header over.
Gestede caused Ipswich a numbers of problems even before his strike, forcing keeper Dean Gerken to push away his glancing header and seeing a penalty appeal rejected.
Blackburn went ahead in the 64th minute when Rhodes steered a left-foot shot past Gerken from Gestede's flick.
The French striker then missed a sitter but he got the goal he deserved by heading in ten minutes from the end.
âWe let Blackburn off the hook," said Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy. "We just blinked first.
But it was an £8m striker's goal that opened the scoring."
