Match Report

Colchester 0-3 Ipswich

Darren Bent scored twice and Marcus Bent added the other as Ipswich eased to a 3-0 win in their traditional pre-season friendly at neighbours Colchester.

Colchester, who offered full home debuts to Andy Myers and Wayne Andrews, dominated the first half but could not find a way through against their First Division rivals.

And after dominating for virtually an hour of the game, a mistake by Colchester keeper Richard McKinney turned the game.

McKinney dropped a cross at the feet of Marcus Bent, who had the easiest of tasks to fire into an empty net.

The Colchester keeper was beaten again 16 minutes from time when Darren Bent skipped past a tackle an fired home.

And another defensive lapse near the end allowed Darren Bent to slide the ball past McKinney for Ipswich's third.
