A product of the youth set-up created by Jackie Milburn in the 1960's, Derek 'Chopper' Jefferson made his Town debut at 18 years of age. He went onto to make over 170 first team appearances before joining Wolves, for £88,000, in October, 1972. He struggled to establish himself in the first team there, but still made some 50 appearances for the Molineux side, before going out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, and then joining Hereford United. His playing career ended in the late 70's in the North American Soccer League. Various other jobs in sport followed including a spell as coach at Birmingham City. Now a committed Christian Derek runs a coaching set-up throughout the UK for youngsters.
