Leyton Orient signed Justin Miller from Ipswich on a 2-and-a-half year contract on January 31st, 2003. Miller, who had a successful loan spell with the East London side earlier in the season, had been told by Town manager Joe Royle that his contract would not be renewed in the summer, and that he would be allowed to leave on a free transfer in order to further his career.
Miller, a central defender, was a product of the Town Academy and a regular in the reserves, but seemingly played no part in the clubs first team plans.
