Robin Turner featured in the 1981 film called "Escape to Victory" because he was a player on the German Team
A few of his Ipswich Town teammates featured in the film as well, including Laurie Sivell, who was the German team's Goalkeeper.

Certain player's, whilst not exactly setting the world a light with their footballing prowess, demand the utmost respect from fan's for their undying loyalty to a club.
One such player is former Town striker Robin Turner.
Between his league debut in the 1-0 reverse at Derby in October '75, and his final appearance for Ipswich in a 1-0 home win over Nottingham Forest in April '85, he made just 29 full appearances and 33 as substitute (netting on 6 occasions). That's an average of just 6 games a season over 10 years !.
At 16, in this second year at Portman Road, he was a member of the 1973 FA Youth Cup winning side, was capped by England at Youth Level and was described at the time as a "nippy, prolific goalscorer".
Behind the likes of David Johnson, Trevor Whymark, Paul Mariner, however he was never given the opportunity to stake a regular place in the first team lineup. Although to be brutally honest from a fan's point of a view that was quite fortuitous.
Some players are blessed with a certain amount of luck but not our Robin. In the 1978 FA Cup Semi-Final against West Brom at Highbury, on as a 2nd half substitute, he was clear through on goal and with only the 'keeper to beat but he struck his shot several yards over the bar and into the Town fan's at the Clock End. Not the first time in a Blue and White shirt that he had missed an absolute sitter.
Town where 3-1 up by that stage so no was harm done. I should mention that he did score twice in the 2-2 5th Round draw against Bristol Rovers at Eastville earlier that year. An orange ball was used in that game due to the covering of snow on the pitch -- maybe one should have been used more often !.
After close to 12 years at the club, and with not so much as a hint of a Testimonial, he was transferred to Swansea City in March '85 (where incidentally he scored 8 goals in 20 league appearances). He returned to East Anglia later that year where he made just under a dozen appearances for Colchester United. Those proved to be his last in the Football League.
Last seen (by myself anyway) playing for Bury Town against Folkestone in a Beazer Home League game on February 10th, 1990. Bury around that time seemed to be a clearing house for ex-Town players and included in the lineup that day with Robin Turner were Kevin Steggles, Tommy Parkin, Tony Kinsella and Alan Brazil !
